ZILLA OAKS: LIVING THE ART, BREAKING THE LIMITS

IMG-20251114-WA0011

There are artists who make noise — and then there’s Zilla Oaks, the Abuja-bred sonic shapeshifter turning chaos into art. He doesn’t just record tracks; he creates cinematic experiences that breathe energy, honesty, and culture. Every beat is a heartbeat, every bar a timestamp in the evolution of his sound.

⚡ STREAMING KILLED THE DVD STAR — AND ZILLA ADAPTED LIKE A REBEL TURNED VISIONARY

Zilla Oaks has watched the industry morph in real time — from street mixtapes and DVDs to streams and screens.

“Music has transitioned a lot since I came out. I launched my career at the end of the DVD era. I started dropping on SoundCloud and YouTube, but everything moved — Apple, Spotify, TikTok, content creation… It’s been a crazy journey.”

He’s not exaggerating. Zilla didn’t just adapt to the streaming era — he decoded it. While most chased virality, he built consistency. His career reads like a masterclass in evolution, rooted in authenticity.

25 MINUTES OF MAYHEM — HOW “GUNDOWN” HAPPENED

Some songs take weeks. Others take magic.

“I made ‘Gundown’ at Barclays Studio. Heard a beat at 8 a.m., recorded the whole track in 25 minutes.”

No filters. No rewrites. Just pure instinct and clarity. “Gundown” wasn’t just recorded — it was summoned. That kind of flow state separates artists who make songs from those who become the sound.

ADHD, FREESTYLES & THE BEAUTY IN CHAOS

What some call a limitation, Zilla calls fuel.

“I battle with ADHD, so freestyling got me really far. It made me quick — short sessions, sharp ideas, no wasted energy.”

Then came a defining moment:

“At Incredible Music Fest 2024, I’d finished my set, then M.I Abaga and Jesse Jagz brought me back out. The band’s just playing notes… Jesse hands me the mic. What did I do? I freestyled.”

That’s the thing about Zilla Oaks — pressure doesn’t break him; it activates him. His creative process isn’t about perfection — it’s about presence.

LEGACY OVER LIKES — THE ZILLA PHILOSOPHY

Zilla’s not here for numbers — he’s here for meaning.

“Authenticity. Originality. Freedom. Swag.”

Those aren’t buzzwords; they’re commandments. His sound radiates self-belief and purpose.

“Music is my life. To simply put it: every. I wake up and pray for more blessings. You gotta believe in yourself and the people around you.”

He’s not chasing charts; he’s chasing legacy. And legacy — the real kind — doesn’t fade with algorithms.

NO ZZZZ — NO SLEEP. JUST EVOLUTION.

The grind continues with NO ZZZZ 3, the next chapter in his genre-blending series.

“I’m working on a hip-hop/trap/rap project — the follow-up to my No ZZZZ imprint.”

The name says it all. No rest. No shortcuts. Just passion in overdrive.

“I don’t stop. I’m Zilla Oaks 24/7. It’s crazy.”

Zilla doesn’t do music. He is music. And that’s why his story — like his sound — will always echo louder than the noise.
