When we sat down with Bagup 43T, born Patrick Jnr on February 10, 199x, one thing was immediately clear — music has always been part of his story. Hailing from Esan South East Local Government Area of Edo State, Bagup speaks with pride about his roots and how Nigeria’s cultural richness shaped his earliest connection to sound.
Growing up in Abuja, his relationship with music developed naturally. He recalls singing and engaging with music in church, school, age-grade activities, and family gatherings — spaces that allowed his talent to grow without pressure. According to him, these early environments laid the foundation for his confidence and creative expression.
As he explains, his sound was shaped by a wide range of influences, from Nigerian music to artists across the globe. This blend helped him find a lane that feels personal while still resonating beyond borders. His journey into recording music began modestly, starting with early releases in the church before evolving into more intentional projects over time.
Today, Bagup 43T identifies as a Trap artist, but his music goes beyond genre. He describes his work as a reflection of love, loss, hope, and identity, drawing from personal experiences and everyday realities. His recent project, The Blacklist, marks an important step in his growth, with more music currently in the works.
Though he admits he hasn’t fully stepped into the spotlight yet, Bagup remains grounded and optimistic. He believes strongly in consistency and patience, trusting that his dedication to the craft will eventually pay off. For him, the journey is just as important as the destination — and he’s only getting started.
