Cast and Bind was born out of a need to externalize an inner war, both spiritual and physical. I wanted to create a sound that felt like armor: cold, dark, and unshaken. The verses carry that weight – icy, intentional bars layered over immersive sound design
that feels like nature is watching. You’ll hear witch-like laughter, thunderclaps, screeching birds – all chosen to set the tone of conflict, resistance, and divine protection.
The song isn’t diabolic, it’s a prayer disguised as a war cry. A declaration. A warning. A shield. The backing vocals are smooth, almost soothing, creating a spiritual balance You’ll also hear a haunting choral chant of Kyrie Eleison (Lord have mercy) which is
a nod to my Catholic roots, anchoring the chaos with grace.

OG Mage Declares War on Inner Demons with Bold New Single “Cast & Bind”
Afro-fusion artist and lyrical force OG Mage returns with Cast & Bind, a gripping
new single that blends Afrobeat rhythms with poetic rap and cinematic sound design.
Dropping July 17th, the track is a declaration of resistance – against spiritual
opposition, societal pressure, and personal doubt.
Following the success of Faraway, OG Mage shifts gears, delivering a darker, more
confrontational sound. Cast & Bind captures the raw will to overcome, layered with
chilling backing vocals, thunder, screeching birds, and a haunting chant: “Kyrie
Eleison” – a nod to Mage’s Catholic roots meaning “Lord, have mercy.” The record
immerses listeners in a vivid battle between light and darkness, prayer and action, fate
and defiance.
