Fiki Is Building a World of His Own

For Fiki, creativity has never been about simply making music. It is about imagination, identity, and the courage to build something that exists first in your mind and eventually in the real world.

Taofik Lateef, professionally known as Fiki, is an independent singer-songwriter, creative director, and visual storyteller from Lagos, Nigeria. With over a decade spent creating, he has built his journey around a simple but powerful idea: you can create your own world.

His world is called Fikiverse.

Inspired by life, spirituality, Lagos, and the possibilities of the future, Fiki’s creative universe stretches beyond sound. Music, visuals, fashion, storytelling and culture all become pieces of a larger picture—one that continues to evolve as he does.

More Than Music

Fiki’s work is rooted in the belief that imagination deserves to be trusted.

For him, being an independent creative has meant learning to listen to his own instincts, especially when the path ahead was unclear or when the world seemed to be moving in a completely different direction.

That independence has come with its own lessons: patience, resilience, discipline and, perhaps most importantly, the courage to remain authentic.

“Growth isn’t always about how fast you move,” his journey seems to suggest. Sometimes, growth is simply continuing to create until the thing you have been carrying in your head finally has a physical form.

That philosophy has become central to Fiki’s creative process. Rather than allowing trends or expectations to define the direction, he continues to explore, experiment and follow the ideas that feel honest to him.

Welcome to the Fikiverse

After the release of his VENUS EP, Fiki entered another period of exploration.

Instead of treating the project as an endpoint, he has used it as a doorway into new sounds, emotions and creative possibilities. Now, he is preparing to release “TÍTÍLÁÍLÁÍ,” a new song featuring Ihcego.

The record represents another movement in his ever-expanding creative world—a continuation of the curiosity that has kept him creating for more than a decade.

But there is something bigger happening beyond the release of another song.

Fiki is gradually turning his artistic identity into an ecosystem.

Over the next three to five years, he envisions Fikiverse becoming something people can actually experience: a world built through music, visuals, fashion and storytelling. A space where different forms of creativity intersect and where each project becomes another piece of a much larger story.

Creating Something That Outlives Him

The ambition is not simply to become bigger. It is to become lasting.

Fiki wants to create timeless work, connect with a global audience, collaborate with people who inspire him and ultimately build something that can exist beyond his own presence.

There is a sense of curiosity in that ambition. He does not seem interested in having every chapter mapped out in advance. In fact, part of the excitement comes from not knowing exactly where the journey will lead.

He wants the journey to surprise him.

And perhaps that is what makes the Fikiverse interesting. It is not a finished world. It is constantly being imagined, challenged and rebuilt.

A World You Can Build Too

At the heart of Fiki’s story is a message that extends beyond his own career.

He wants people to remember him as someone who reminded them that they could create their own world too.

To trust their imagination. To remain true to themselves. To resist the pressure to become what everyone else expects. And, most importantly, to never be afraid of becoming who they were meant to be.

For Fiki, that is the real measure of meaningful work.

If something he creates can make another person believe in their own possibility, then he has already left something valuable behind.

And as Fikiverse continues to expand—from VENUS to “TÍTÍLÁÍLÁÍ” and whatever comes next—the most exciting part may be that the world is still being built.

One idea. One sound. One image. One story at a time.
