AfriKane is giving romance a new flavour. Following the introspective mood of his debut EP, Sincerely AfriKane, the Ugandan singer-songwriter returns with “Koroga,” a kompa-inspired single built around playful affection, multilingual lyrics, and a groove made for the dance floor.
Released on October 14, 2026, through Cosy AfriKane Limited and RIA Entertainment, the track arrives with an official music video directed by OG Bash. At two minutes and 45 seconds, “Koroga” keeps things concise, placing its focus on an infectious chorus and the everyday details that make its love story feel personal.
In Swahili, koroga means “to stir” or “to mix.” AfriKane turns that meaning into a playful metaphor for romance, building his lyrics around food, familiar routines, and expressions of affection.
From nyama choma paired with kachumbari to a morning cappuccino, the song draws on everyday pleasures to communicate attraction. The phrase “we ni sukari” — you are the sugar — captures the sweetness of his affection, while “tamu tamu” reinforces the song’s flirtatious mood.
At the centre is the refrain, “My Cherie, koroga… for me,” a simple hook that gives the track its identity.
AfriKane moves between English, Swahili, Luganda, and French throughout the record. The shifts reflect the cultural mix behind the song, allowing the lyrics to move between different languages without losing their romantic focus.
AfriKane’s musical journey spans continents. Before returning to Uganda, he spent a decade performing across Europe, appearing at Denmark’s Distortion Festival and Norway’s Oslo Afro Arts and Kongsberg Jazz festivals. In 2017, he also opened for Congolese music star Awilo Longomba.
Reflecting on how those experiences have shaped his work, AfriKane explains:
“I fuse the style of writing I picked up along my travels with the experience of being an African who has lived both in Africa and several parts of Europe.”

That international perspective informed Sincerely AfriKane, his six-track debut EP released in May, which explored a more introspective, melancholic side of his artistry. His more recent releases have taken a different direction.
In August, he released “Kole,” a kompa duet featuring Congolese artist TSHIM’S. The song reportedly surpassed 76,000 YouTube views in its first month. “Koroga” follows that release, continuing his exploration of danceable rhythms and East African cultural references.
Produced, mixed, and mastered by St. Andrew Musiz at St Andrew Studio, “Koroga” pairs its kompa-inspired rhythm with a repetitive chorus designed to stay with the listener.
The official video, directed by OG Bash, brings the song to life visually, with contributions from DOP Dirvigo, colourist LEP, stylist Killaman, and makeup artist Aggi.
The song has also inspired the Koroga Dance Challenge, with participants across Uganda and Rwanda sharing their interpretations on TikTok and Instagram Reels ahead of the release. The challenge gives audiences another way to engage with the track, taking its rhythm beyond streaming platforms and into social media.
With “Koroga,” AfriKane shifts the focus from the introspection of his debut EP to a lighter, more playful expression of love. Its food references, multilingual delivery, and danceable rhythm give the song a distinct personality without overcomplicating its message.
Following “Kole,” the release also adds another chapter to his ongoing exploration of sounds that connect his international experiences with his East African background.
“Koroga” is available on major streaming platforms, alongside its official music video on YouTube.
